The dermaroller is a roller with multiple micro-needles that is applied to the skin to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, which are responsible for providing firmness and support to the subcutaneous tissue. This tissue renews itself every 20–30 days and gradually diminishes with age, leading to sagging.
In addition to being an excellent facial anti-aging treatment, we also use it on scars, stretch marks, cellulite, and areas of body sagging.
Dermaroller sessions can be performed on their own or combined with other treatments to enhance the desired results. The strategy, number of sessions, and whether to combine it with other techniques will be tailored to each patient’s profile individually.
Sessions can be done weekly or every 15 days for three months, and then gradually spaced out to maintenance sessions only.
Preparation involves topical anesthesia (cream) applied about 30 minutes before the treatment. After the session, we perform cleansing, disinfection, and hydration with sun protection.
Because it uses micro-needles that “roll” over the skin, it leaves a normal erythema or redness, which will fade over the following days.
This treatment also causes temporary localized heat as a result of vascular reaction, vasodilation, and collagen stimulation.
