At DC Clinic, we stopped using this technique years ago and it is currently outdated.
Hair transplant technique that involves extracting a portion of the scalp (a strip, finger-shaped, more or less large depending on circumstances and needs) from the DONOR AREA, usually the back or side of the head, which is then divided to isolate each of the follicular units it contains. In this case, all the hairs in the strip are obtained, some thicker, others finer, …
The isolated follicular units are then implanted in the desired area, the RECIPIENT AREA.
We usually use this technique for women, patients who have previously undergone FUSS surgery, eyebrow reconstruction, and patients who do not want to shave their heads.
The technique is performed with the patient comfortably lying on a table suitable for hair micrografting. The patient’s position changes during the procedure for their comfort and that of the team.
The process is painless. It is done with local anesthesia so the patient does not feel pain but remains conscious throughout, talking, listening to music, watching a projection, or dozing off at times. The session can last between 4 and 8 hours, during which the patient can take breaks to use the bathroom, eat, and drink for their comfort.
Recovery requires at least 3 days of rest and avoiding sun exposure and intense exercise for 2 weeks.
The final result will be visible one year after the session, although it will be quite noticeable at 6 months. It is important to know that during the first 2 to 3 months, the transplanted hair usually falls out, making way for new hair growth.
